North America and South America

Some people think that North America and South America are the same because they both have America in their names, but they are two totally different places. I have been to both! Here are three reasons why South America is so different from North America.

1. The language

In North America they speak English and a little less of Spanish but in South America they speak a lot of Spanish and a little English. I learned a lot of Spanish in Argentina and Chile. Now I know so much Spanish that I can order my family food in all Spanish!

2. Food

The food in South America is amazing! It has the best steak, empanadas, chipas and ice cream in all of the America! You can see all the yummy foods of South America in my other posts. And trust me, when you take a bite you will think "Maybe I should move to South America because there are so many good things about it. The food is so stinking good and the prices are so low." Which brings us to our next topic!

3. Prices

The prices in South America are very low especially in Argentina. For example, I bought a pair of earrings for $400 Argentine pesos, which is $0.75USD. And a 30 minute taxi across town in Buenos Aires was $2-3 USD while a 20 minute taxi ride in Anchorage, Alaska (where I am now) is $19.90 USD.  That is expensive!

I hoped you liked my presentation about South America and North America!

Me in Buenos Aires with a sign of my name and a LOT of pesos!  Each one of these bills is $2USD.

The food is so good.  Here is my Dad eating a big steak.  The second picture is an empanada.

My Inca research paper

 Intro

Today I will be teaching you about the Incas. I will teach you about the housing, temples, food and royalty. Enjoy!

Housing

One cool thing about the Incas is that their houses are very unique. They carved big bumps in the rocks and on another rock they would do the exact same pattern but it looked like two big legos. They would put those two rocks together and the two big rocks would stay together. They also had music there for the king! It was like a window but with no glass and it did not show outside. So it was like a big rectangle-like hole and the servants would sound like they were meditating like “OOOUUU MMMM” and the holes would make the noise echo and that is how the king listened to music instead of spotify.

Temple

There were many churches and temples so they had to have some staff. They would choose these people called the “Quechua aclla cuna” which meant the “chosen women.” The chosen women had to make food, keep the sacred fire going and sew the emperor's temple clothes. And the girl had to be 8-10 to get picked to be a chosen woman. And the girl would work for the rest of her life and be given as a wife to one of the Inca warriors. if the woman ever had a child before she was given to the warrior there would be 4 punishments, 1- the girl would be buried alive. 2-the boyfriend would be hung by the neck until he dies. 3- The boyfriend's family would be hung by the neck too. 4- The boy's village would be torn down. But there was a way to escape these horrible punishments, it was to say “The sun is his dad!” because the Incas worshiped the sun god so that they would never hurt the sun god.

Food

If you were wondering what food the Incas ate, they ate a lot of potatoes, corn and tomatoes. Sometimes the Incas got very bad weather: there was (1) good and nice rain. It would help make crops. (2) winter. In this weather it was very hard to make crops. So when it was winter they had to save their food and stop growing crops. So they made warehouses. The warehouses would help them store their food.

Another weather issue was “el niño.” It was when the warm and cold waters mixed together sometimes they would have good weather to grow things or years of bad weather with no rain. And when that happened they had to eat the food that they had stored in the warehouses. So that is why the Incas only ate a little more than half of the food that they grew each year. They stored the rest in warehouses for the years when they could not grow crops.

We saw how they grew their crops on terraces (see in picture in the end.)

Royalty

The Incas also had lords before the Spanish came. They had 8 lords and 1 emperor. They had a nice balance between king and queen. They would both have the same amount of power. The men went out and herded the llamas and the women made the wool into yarn. They were very colorful with the yarn by taking parasites from the cacti, flowers and corn and boiled it with the yarn to change its color. They took the blood of the bug and put lime juice on it and that made it orange and took ice also and rubbed that on the blood and that made it pink.

They also had gold and silver. But when the Spanish people came they had guns and swords and there were 150 Spanish people and 10,000 Incas. The Incas had bones and skin for their weapons. The Spanish took out 8,000 Incas in 2 hours and the rest they made into slaves.

Conclusion

I hoped you liked my research about the Incas and their housing, temples, the food and their royalty!

Green 💚

 Green

Green looks like a big green tree

Green sounds like a nice cool breeze

Green smells like wet fresh soil

Green feels like jumping high and free on a trampoline

Green tastes like fresh fruit

Green is happiness

Simile Poem: My big sister ❤️

She is as kind as a flower,
She is like a rainbow, making cloudy days happy,
She is a sweet as honey,
She is like a bee, working hard to make people happy
She is as bright as the sun,
She is my big sister.

Why cats are better than dogs

If you are thinking of getting a pet, here are three reasons why cats are the best pet. I think they are better  because they are cleaner, easier, and less expensive.

Have you ever tried cleaning up after a dog? If you have then you know how annoying it is to clean up after their mess. But cats don't need you to pick up their poo with plastic bags over your hand. They also clean themselves with their spiky tongues, you will need to brush them once in a while but not as much as dogs, that need to get brushed every couple days.

If you have had a dog you will know that when you need a bit of space it is frustrating to have a dog barking at your heels unlike cats, that understand when you want space or when you want snuggles. (A tabby cat will not understand because all it wants is love.) Also it makes everyone angry when there is a dog howling in the middle of the night, but cats are almost always silent.

If you think of all the things dogs need, they are pretty expensive.  Walks are $15 to $20 dollars for 20 minute walks and getting them groomed and their nails cut  is $75 for big dogs and $40 for small dogs. But cats would rather stay inside sleeping, or playing and their nails are easier to cut at home.

Therefore I think cats are better pets than dogs because they are cleaner, easier to take care of, and less expensive

Genie in a bottle: Narrative Writing

Once upon a time, in a far away land there lived a princess. Her name was Chloe. Chloe always wished that she would have a tabby cat to snuggle her all the time. For she was lonely and had no parents. “If I ever get the cat of my dreams, then I will name it Carrot.” And she sat alone in her bed, dreaming of what she should do if she had a cat.

Then, one day Chloe went to get some royal tea in her royal palace. So she grabbed her teapot and started to pour her tea when… a genie popped out instead. “Hello Chloe! I am your genie! I can grant you 3 wishes! But, there are some rules! You can not wish for unlimited wishes or wish for me to make potions!” said the genie. “Wow!” Chloe exclaimed, “Well, I have always been wanting a cute and cuddly tabby cat!” said Chloe.

“Okay! Now all you have to do is just say “I wish” and then say your wish!” said the genie. “I'm ready!” said Chloe “I wish for a tabby cat that will want snuggles from me every day!” said Chloe “ Wish granted!” said the genie. And a fluffy, cute, tabby cat was in her hands, purring loudly and sleeping. “Thank you so much!” said Chloe “ No problemo!” said the genie

“You have two more wishes! So what you wish for will come true!” The genie told Chloe “Well, I have one more wish, so I wish for a mountain of burritos because I love burritos!” and a pile of burrito pillows appeared next to her. “Well I meant real ones but you can keep these here because Carrot the cat would love them but I will use my next wish for a real pile of warm burritos!” said Chloe. And a big pile of warm burritos was next to all her fluffy burrito pillows.

“Now that you have used all your wishes, you can enjoy all your burritos and your cat!” said the genie “Thank you!!” said Chloe as the genie was disappearing into his teapot. And Chloe lived happily ever after with millions of burritos in her kitchen and thousands of burrito pillows for snuggling Carrot.
